Micah Ofstedahl (1982-)
Micah Ofstedahl was born 1982 in Austin, Minnesota. His interest and abilities in painting showed early in his life and he later went on to Minnesota State University, Mankato where he graduated with a Batchelor of Fine Arts focusing on sculpture and ceramics.
After taking a break to work in a circus band he returned to painting.
He was drawn to the images in a copy of Grey's Anatomy especially magnifications of cells or cross-sections of bone. He also found the 19th century illustrations by Ernst Haeckel of radiolarians and other strange and beautiful life-forms. His abstract surrealist paintings are thus inspired by biological forms.
